Long Lunch Series: Grenache Takeover
April 3 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm$120
There’s something about Grenache, This incredibly versatile Mediterranean varietal, the backbone of the great wines of southern France and northern Spain (think Chateauneuf du Pape and Priorat), has exploded in popularity right here in Australia in recent years. No longer just a blending component in the traditional South Australian GSM blends, it has become a hero in its own right and these days rivals Shiraz as the great grape of McLaren Vale. Is it the balance of elegance and power? Or is it its sheer versatility to go from juicy fruit-driven styles to earthy, dirty reds? Whatever it is, Grenache is certainly making an impact!
Join us as we get under the skin of this beguiling, delicious varietal, exploring its many forms and styles, from southern French Rosé to high altitude Spanish Garnatxa to the very best of South Australia, throwing in one of our absolute favourites from the King of Barossa Grenache, Marco Cirillo. These are our absolute favourite kind of lunches, where we get to put together a beautiful selection of wines based on our travels and experiences… and you will love it! We’ll be pairing the 7 wines with a beautiful Mediterranean inspired 3 course menu from our good friend Paul Hoffa at Drum Dining – what better way could there possibly be to round off the week and the month?
