This is a deliciously ripe and smooth GSM blend from the award-winning Calmel et Joseph in the south of France. While the GSM blend may be typical of the region, the Grenache (60%) is sourced from deep in the Roussillon – and its proximity to the Spanish border is evident in the body and richness of the wine. That being said, the addition of elegant Syrah and lifted Mourvedre add an elegant backbone to the wine, balancing out the ripeness of the Grenache. The finished product is a fuller bodied red without becoming heavy – thoroughly Mediterranean in character, with bright fruit and spice and good length (and, according to Darren, an earthy character that reminds him of the reds from Rockford).

A perfect wine coming into the cooler weather to enjoy with any kind of red meat or mushroom based dishes, stews etc.
