Ballycroft French Oak Shiraz
Joe Evans loves to let everyone know that he is the smallest winemaker in the Barossa, but make no mistake – what he lacks in height he more than makes up for in personality… and his wines are certainly some of the biggest in the region! We’ve followed Joe on his winemaking journey from working cellar doors at Rockford and Greenock Creek to launching his own brand with wife Sue in 2005, and the wines are consistently some of the most popular at our many Barossa events. Production is tiny – a few hundred dozen each year, but the wines are intense, and the vineyards maintained immaculately by the winemaker himself. The labels pay tribute to the history of the property, which was formerly the Ballycroft cheesery run by Sue and her sister Tracy up until 2011.
Big blackberry plum fruits, splash of sarsparilla and a hint of vanilla. Pure blackberry pie on the palate with a dollop of sweet creamy walnut oak. Integrated mid palate with harmonious balance, flowing through to a generous length which will last 15 years.
