This tiny winery is one we first came across in our travels in Piemonte and have loved ever since. Carlo Boffa is blessed with a stunning winery position, smack bang in the middle of Barbaresco, and next door to the illustrious Gaja. perched on the top of the hill the cellar door offers stunning views over the region and offers a beautiful B&B which we highly recommend if you are looking for a base to explore this amazing part of the world.

This is very serious Barbaresco, made in tiny quantities and with an allocation of only 50 cases per year for Australia. On the nose it is intense, with the classic ‘tar and roses’ balance of perfumed high notes and earthy undertones. On the palate it achieves that ethereal quality of the best wines of Piemonte. It is dry and full bodied, yet with the bottle ageing the tannins have softened and it has come into beautiful balance. A fine wine in every sense – this offers an incredible sensory experience, one to be savoured and lingered over.
