2 x Clairault Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2023
We have to say that Clairault does this blend really, REALLY well. It is a softer, herbaceous style of white, with delicious white peach and meyer lemon notes that provide beautiful balance and stop it from becoming too zingy. A portion of the wine (20%) is fermented in French oak barriques – enough to soften the wine and add a touch of brioche complexity without any evidence of oakiness. In the words of the winemaker it pairs beautifully with fresh air!
2 x Clairault Estate Chardonnay 2021
This gorgeous Chardonnay is sourced predominantly from fruit from the winery’s Bridgeland Block, located in the cooler southern tip of the Margaret River. This enables them to create a wine of great purity and tension (this is the Chablis to the Streicker’s White Burgundy). Pear flesh, zest and porcelain-like tannin drive forward a message of serenity and true fruit expression. A lattice of fine French oak, granite and grapefruit pith serve as a platform for an unyielding finish of white flowers, lemon curd and hints of gun-smoke.
2 x Streicker ‘Ironstone Block’ Chardonnay 2021
The perfect counterpoint to the Clairault Chardonnay, the Ironstone Block is located in the renowned sub-district of Wilyabrup. Make no mistake, this is still the epitome of elegance, but offers bolder aromas of fresh peach, roasted cashew and bright citrus. On the palate it offers a rounder, more generous expression with stone fruit, citrus and touches of brioche and baking spices.
