Domaine Romy Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Domaine Romy is located in the Beaujolais winegrowing area known as Les Pierres Dorées, after the local golden ochre stone used the build the villages in the area. The appearance of these sun-kissed villages, surrounded by vines and perched at the high points of the hilly landscape, have also given the area its other nickname, by which it is usually known in tourism circles – Little Tuscany. Being within Beaujolais, the majority of plantings are Gamay, but the area has also been recognised for the aromatic complexity of its Pinot Noir.
$30.00
Pinot Noir is hard to come by in Beaujolais territory – but this particular pocket of land is a bit of an insider tip for Pinots with depth and earthy complexity. If you haven’t tried Pinot from this most southerly part of Burgundy you really should give it a go. It’s got plenty of delicious forest fruit flavours along with delicate floral notes and a hint of spice, while the palate has an earthiness that adds depth and interest. Refined and elegant, with lovely smooth tannins.
