Flaxman Grenache Mataro Shiraz
Colin ‘Col’ Shepard knows how to cook – some of you may recall he got deep into the Australian Masterchef competition a few years back – but he’s also a very talented winemaker, producing ultra small parcels of classic Barossa styles (his Semillon tops out at a massive 30 dozen per year!). From the high country of Eden Valley, Col is able to achieve great elegance to his reds and freshness to his whites – always a favourite with the local wine scribes. We love his wines and are thrilled to be able to share them.
This is a deliberately crafted lighter style GSM blend, designed as a counter-point to the multitude of traditional big, bold Barossa reds. If you are looking for that richer style, this wine is not for you, but if you are interested in discovering a more elegant side to the Barossa region, this is a great place to start. It displays delicate summer fruit flavours of raspberry and cherry, and we would recommend chilling in the fridge for 20 minutes before serving to show it at its best.
