We’ve been welcoming Rob ‘The Dirtman’ Gibson up to Brisbane for as long as I can remember, and it has been nothing but a pleasure to introduce and champion his wines to our appreciative customers. We’re now delighted to welcome next generation Adam up to introduce the new releases from this outstanding (and superb value) winery, even if it makes us feel a little old! We’ll enjoy both traditional Barossa styles as well as the alternative varietals the Gibson family have become known for with a flight of six wines accompanied by a stellar 3 course menu from Javier and the team at MODA. This is the perfect fodder for a classic Barossa Long Lunch – don’t miss out!

A nickname that has stuck since his early days at Australia’s original wine finishing school, Roseworthy College, ‘The Dirtman’ is indeed, Rob Gibson. Used to characterise the different wine specialist pathways at Roseworthy, viticulture (grape growing) students were affectionally known as ‘Dirt men’ and ‘Dirt women’. Conversely, oenologists (wine making) students were known as ‘Plonkies’.

Unearthed during Rob’s formative years as a geologist, a spirit of prospecting is at the heart of Gibson. With a second generation emerging, the family champion Barossa wines that are Dirtborn. Rob, with wife Anne and son Adam, continue a keen-eyed search for what might be hidden, waiting to be revealed.
