Payne’s Rise Chardonnay
This lovely boutique winery is located in the Upper Yarra Valley, specialising in small-batch wines from carefully selected ,estate-grown fruit from their Seville vineyard. Owner Tim is a very highly regarded viticulturalist, who looks after many of the region’s most well-known vineyards, while wife Narelle looks after the sales and functions at their gorgeous, rustic cellar door. The wines themselves are made by well-known winemaker Franco d’Anna of Hoddles Creek fame. Go and say hi if you are in the region… and tell them we sent you!

This is an absolutely delicious Yarra Valley Chardonnay, with perfect weight and balance. Elegant and complex, it shows exuberant stone fruit flavours, with notes of citrus that elevate the wine and give it brightness. On the palate notes of grapefruit, white peach and lemon zest abound, with a backdrop of spice and subtle cedary oak.
