We have been really impressed with the development of the Great Southern region over recent years – it has become a real insider tip for beautiful aromatic whites in particular. The Willoughby Park vineyard is located at the extreme edges of the Porongorup Ranges to the east of Albany and less than 20km from the chilly waters of the Southern Ocean, and has been described by James Halliday as a ‘mighty mouse of a vineyard’. The Rieslings and Chardonnays are exceptional and deliver outstanding value when compared to Margaret River prices – perfect wines for those balmy Queensland evenings!

This is a delicious Riesling with beautiful aromas of cut lime and perfumed notes of jasmine and orange blossom. With the first sip it delivers crisp citrus flavours in addition to the complex floral notes that waft across the palate. The crisp acidity and mineral finish hint at the vineyard’s proximity to the Great Southern Ocean.

A mellifluous riesling. It has excellent intensity, but it ushers softly through the mouth, its citrussy, slatey, apple-like flavours whispered with talc and florals. It’s tempting to call it a pretty wine but it has more power than that word implies.
