Amy’s Mixed Dozen

I’ve spent more than a decade finding the best wines to import into Australia and I’d like to think I have picked a few crackers here! These wines are all full of character and brilliant for summer drinking (and yes, I did throw one Aussie wine in there for luck!) –

2 x Radford Dale Vinum Chenin Blanc, Stellenbosch SA
We drank this on Xmas day with BBQ peri-peri prawns. It’s got beautiful palate weight, plenty of ripe fruit and a crisp but rounded finish. Just lovely.
2 x Calmel et Joseph Amstramgram Les Sacres Blanc, Languedoc FR
My oh my, this beautiful blend punches so far above its weight! Rounded and complex, there is elegant stone fruit, white flower, herbs and garrigue – this is French wine with real regional character.
2 x Artigiano Rosato, Sicily IT
Italy may not be your first choice for Rose, but this might just make you think again. It is beautifully dry, savoury and textural with a real orange citrussy kick. The perfect aperitif.
2 x Villa Blanche Piquepoul Noir, Languedoc FR
This is brilliant summer drinking and loves to be chilled slightly. Light-medium bodied, there’s red fruit and spice aplenty with a rustic edge.
2 x Abtole Rioja Crianza, Rioja ESP
Juicy and joyous – this is everything we love about Rioja. Red fruits leap from the glass with a delicious hint of vanilla oak. Dangerously slurpable.
2 x Willoughby Park Shiraz, Great Southern WA (AUS)
This is medium-bodied Shiraz with lots of elegant peppery spice. My pick for the BBQ.
