de Iuliis Estate Chardonnay

It’s so easy to spend a lot of money on Chardonnay, but finding a wine with genuine depth and character for under $25 can be a serious challenge. When we came across this wine we realised it was one of those unicorns – an embarrassment of riches wrapped up in its modest bottle. Fruit is hand-picked from the de Iuliis family vineyards in Lovedale in the heart of the Hunter Valley and crafted into a delicious, medium-bodied Chardonnay. The nose is redolent of ripe stone fruit wrapped in toasty vanilla oak. On the palate the creamy oak provides a balanced backdrop to the primary peach and grapefruit fruit flavours. Graceful and versatile – this wine will work equally well with or without food.
