Domaine Bachey-Legros Santenay ‘Les Champs Claudes’ Vieilles Vignes
Domaine Bachey-Legros is a sixth generation family affair. Their estate spans some of the best terroir in Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Les Maranges, with a wealth of low-yielding old vines offering superb depth of concentration and power.
$85.00
This is a wine of terrific power and concentration. The impact of those low-yielding old vines is immediate as the nose offers an explosion of dark fruit flavours, supported by elegant notes of five-spice and black pepper. On the palate it has a rich, almost new-world mouth-feel with a core of black cherry and damson under-pinned by elegant tannins and beautifully balanced acidity, leading to an impressively long finish. Cellar if you want, but this wine is ready to go now and will reward drinking over the next 3-5 years.
