Clarendon Hills ‘Domaine Clarendon’ Grenache
Clarendon Hills was founded in 1990 and has been an icon of South Australian wine ever since. Ukrainian born Roman Bratasiuk brought what was at that time a pioneering vision to the Australian wine industry – to champion terroir through the production of single vineyard wines, amongst them Australia’s first ever single vineyard Grenache. While it is for the extraordinary Astralis Syrah that Clarendon HIlls is most renowned, Roman’s relentless work in both vineyard and winery is reflected in each and every wine in the collection.
$32.00
The ‘Domaine Clarendon’ Grenache is created from the de-classified fruit from their three single-site old bush-vine Grenache vineyards in Blewitt Springs – an exceptional wine at the price. On the nose it is exuberantly perfumed with notes of lavender, rose-petal and violet, all intermingling with lifted wild strawberry, raspberry and maraschino cherry fruit. On the palate deeper spicy notes emerge from under the vibrant acidity, offering an additional dimension to the wine and hinting at what may develop if you have the patience to cellar this wine.
