Ah Bandol, the spiritual home of Rosé – this tiny area just east of Marseille consistently creates complex, elegant and vibrant wines that have elevated the reputation of the style onto a level playing field with the world’s very best whites and reds. Domaine Le Galantin’s south-facing terraced vineyards (known as Restanques in this part of France) get an extraordinary 3000 hours of sun per year, which is perfectly tempered by the sea breezes and humidity from the Mediterranean to create perfect balance in their wines.

What an utterly delightful Rosé this is – from the moment you pick up the bottle and see its stunning salmon pink colour and the vintage label that is oh so French, oh so Provence, you can’t help but be captivated. This is a remarkably complex wine, with primary stone fruit and citrus flavours balanced by a pronounced minerality. As is customary in Bandol, the wine is predominantly made from Mourvedre, which adds rich perfume and spice to the wine – the result – a vibrant yet opulent ‘grown-up’ Rosé that will continue to evolve over the next couple of years (if you can keep it that long!)
