One of these names doesn’t receive anywhere near the same recognition (or prices) as the other three despite making wines that easily jostle with the rest. You may not have heard of Eisenstone… but anyone with a genuine love of great Barossa wines needs to get up to speed. Owner and winemaker Stephen Cook branched out only a few years ago to create this stellar brand that focuses solely on Shiraz, but with his little black book bursting with the Barossa’s best growers he was onto a winner straight away – one look at the labels and you will see they are a who’s who of the most prestigious parishes and vineyards of the Western Ranges. Excitingly the winemaking is kept identical across the entire range – by fermenting all batches in the same manner and maturing them in similar top-tier oak regimes, the only variable left is the unique climate and soil of each specific vineyard block or subregion. This “controlled” method provides an incredible masterclass in Barossa terroir.

We are very excited about this one and cannot stress enough the incredible value of the wines and this lunch! Javier is putting best foot forward to create a superb three course menu to suit – you won’t want to miss this one. Eisenstone Barossa Long Lunch

Celebrating the rich German heritage of the Barossa Valley, the name Eisenstone comes from a blend of the German word for iron – Eisen and the English – Stone. This name celebrates the Ironstone soils in which the vines grow and the stone used by the original German settlers to build much of the famous Barossa buildings that still stand to this very day. Their aim is to establish themselves as specialists of Barossa Valley Shiraz, the icon variety of the Barossa Valley which is recognised worldwide.

Within the Valley there are a number of recognised sub regions that vary in climate and soil type and bring out subtle differences in the variety. Eisenstone creator and winemaker Stephen Cook secures special parcels of grapes from the ‘western ranges’ of the famous Barossa Valley which are renowned for producing fuller bodied, powerful wines with amazing depth of flavour and exceptional aging ability to make his wines released under the Eisenstone label. Limited volumes of each wine are produced in any given vintage, each individually numbered.
