Maison Jean Loron Bourgogne Rouge ‘Montvallon’
Established in Southern Burgundy in 1711, the house of Jean Loron specialises in the wines of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais and their range continues to offer outstanding value. Their family-owned estates have been acquired over the years and are spread over some of the most outstanding terroirs between Lyon and Beaune, in the southernmost part of the “Grande Bourgogne”.
This is an elegant and complex Pinot Noir that far exceeds its modest ‘Bourgogne Rouge’ appellation. On the nose it is a bouquet of fresh raspberry and cherry, with an intriguing note of spice. It has a smooth and soft mouthfeel with the primary fruit flavours underpinned by typical Burgundian earthy notes and subtle oak. Bright acidity brings freshness and finesse to the finish.
