Maison Palmer & Co. Champagne Brut Reserve

Champagne, France

Maison Palmer was founded shortly after WW2, when seven winegrowers decided to join forces to produce an exceptional blend, and ultimately their own Champagne ‘house’. In 1947, these pioneers, who hailed exclusively from listed Premier and Grand Cru villages, pooled their talent and experience to develop a champagne of perfect harmony, creating an international brand that would incarnate this spirit of excellence. To this day Premier and Grand Cru vineyards comprise over 50% of Palmer’s holdings.

Those of you who attend our lunches will know that we are huge fans of the house of Palmer. The Brut Reserve is about as good as a non-vintage Champagne is ever going to get – containing 30-35% reserve wine and spending four years on lees (three times the period required) it develops considerable complexity in bottle. In the words of Palmer:

Citrus, pear and apricot aromas with discrete notes of hazelnut and buttery brioche. Succulent and substantial with an unfettered freshness. A model of balance and elegance. The flagship wine of Palmer & Co, crafted from a selection of the most prestigious terroirs in Champagne. The Premier and Grand Crus from the Montagne de Reims predominate, leaving their distinctive marks. A significant proportion or reserve wines contributes a rare fullness and maturity.

The timeless signature of the Palmer style, Brut Reserve distinguishes itself first and foremost for its remarkable finesse and elegance.
