Poderi dal Nespoli ‘Dogheria’ Pinot Bianco
We have long been enthusiastic about the wines of Emilia-Romagna as being an outstanding alternative to more famous Sangiovese from Chianti. Why? They have a richness and roundness that is not often achieved in Chianti, and this combined with lower acidity, makes these wines far easier to drink, particularly when enjoying without food. The wines of Poderi dal Nespoli are a terrific example of this, with both depth of flavour and sheer drinkability, made with great respect for the land and traditions of the region. A note for the travellers among you – their agriturismo is reputed to be absolutely amazing…
This wine offers a bright straw-yellow color, with delicate floral aromas of jasmine and orange blossoms. The palate has good weight and depth of flavour in comparison to many other Pinot Biancos, with the typical mineral notes coming from both the terroir and the diurnal range of the territory. Precise, zesty and well-balanced, with an intense freshness and a long, elegant finish. This wine is a frequent award winner in Italy and has even been awarded the highly coveted Gambaro Rosso Tre Bicchieri.
