Streicker Bridgeland Block Syrah
Clairault Streicker is a simply outstanding Margaret River producer – if you haven’t heard of them, yes you have been missing out! With four well established vineyard sites that span the region and superstar WA winemaker Bruce Dukes at the helm, they have the perfect formula to create magnificent, expressive wines. Their Yallingup vineyard is also home to a stunning protea farm, the inspiration for the featuring of a different species of protea on each of their Streicker labels.
This is a big and powerful Syrah with plenty of body and flavour. Rich dark fruits flavours dominate yet there is still room for the classic cool climate white pepper and all-spice notes, along with hints of licquorice and cinnamon. Toasty oak and fleshy tannins provide the backbone to the wine. If you thought Margaret River could not match South Australia in the power stakes – think again!

“The extreme complexity of the vinification has resulted in the power and weight of a wine with higher alcohol. Here the grapes were picked when ripe, no more, no less, the end result exceptional length to the jet black fruits, with some of the savoury notes found with quality cabernets, not shiraz. The tannins, too, could come from cabernet, but in saying so, not to denigrate the positive role they (and the oak) play here.” James Halliday
